FILM CLUB SCREENING - FILM CLUB Discussion Group meets to discuss ‘The Russian Ark’ (2002/96mins) A single-shot film that takes us on a journey through the Hermitage Museum housed in St Petersburg’s Winter Palace. This journey through its sumptuous rooms recreates Russia’s history over the past three centuries, through enactments and a dialogue between an unseen Russian (voiced by Sokurov himself) and a ‘seen’ nineteenth century French traveller in Russia, Marquis de Cuistine, both ghosts, wandering through the museum.The film will be introduced by Film Scholar, Rashmi Doraiswamy. | ||
