Betty Wolpert.Filmmaker Betty Wolpert believes that despite the progress made in today's South Africa, there is no hope for a lasting peace between the races without an acknowledgment of past injustices. The film shows the extraordinary meeting between two families: the eighteen-year-old son of the Zondos was executed for planting a bomb which killed the seven-year-old son of the Smits. As the two families mourn together the loss of their children, a poignant and moving reconciliation takes place.

FILM CLUB SCREENING - PREMIERE Naalu Pennungal (2007/105mins) Dir.Adoor Gopalakrishnan.A film about four women – each coming from a different social stratum:

A prostitute gives up her profession to lead a ‘normal’ life with her lover. But the law of the land catches up as they fail to give evidence of their matrimony.

The second is a farm-worker whom her parents marry off to a petty shopkeeper. The bridegroom strangely avoids any intimacy with her. Eventually, she is taken back to her parents. There is no explanation given for his abandoning her but scandals start circulating.

The third is a housewife who is visited by a senior classmate of hers. The two reminiscence old days of small adventures and frolics and also ponder over her being childless. He has a solution for her whom he thinks is vulnerable…

The last story is about a middle class girl who is already passed her marriageable age. The widowed mother, who runs the house with four children to look after, tries her best to find a boy for her. Strangely, no proposal seems to work. Eventually, all her younger siblings settle down in life. With the death of her mother, she finds herself alone. Now she has to make a choice of her own. FILM-PSBT-INPUT DOCUMENTARY FILM RETROSPECTIVE The Inner Tour(Israel/Palestine/2001/96mins)Dir. Ra'anan Alexandrowicz. It's about 5-10 Palestinian/families taking a tour of Israel. Apparently it is the only way that they can enter Israel proper.

A poignant part of the documentary  is when a Palestinian Arab who had taken the tour, was able to see his Mother for the first time in years, and how they exchanged photographs by throwing them over the border between Israel and Lebanon.

The boss orders him to kill her and flee from the country. As Kyoji tries to settle down his past catches up. On the cruise ship to Thailand, he meets the mesmerizing Noi. She immediately captivates Kyoji, but their lives are entwined in ways he never imagined. His journey is peppered with ominous mishaps and on reaching Thailand he discovers the truth about Noi, while defending his life from the men his boss has sent to kill him.
