Documentary Films - PSBT- Doordarshan presents two documentary films. “Fiddlers on the Thatch” (30’) by Trisha Das is an inspirational story of the children of the Gandhi Ashram School, Kalimpong and how learning western classical music has acted as a catalyst of change, opening up new horizons in their otherwise impoverished and humdrum lives. “In Search of an Urban Ballad” (30’) by Joydeep Ghosh, is a film on the development of urban music: concrete, metal, plastic, agony and songs. The screenings will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers moderated by musicologist Dr. Punita G. Singh.

Talks - Film Discussion Group meets for the screening and discussion of the much acclaimed Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai's "Fallen Angels" (1995) [96 mins]. Film Scholar Ravi Vasudevan will introduce the film and facilitate the discussion. Fallen Angels won the Best Cinematography, the Best Music and the Best Supporting Actress awards at the 1995 Hong Kong International Film Festival as well as other international awards.
