The Habitat Film Club is in its fourth year of operation. One of the country’s most dynamic Film Club’s, it screens over 10 films a month for its members. An exciting and Eclectic mix of films for members that range from Foreign Film Festivals, Retrospectives of noted Indian Film Directors and Actors, Premieres and interactions with Film luminaries.

Habitat Film Club Festivals have ranged from Foreign Film Festivals from Spain, China, Israel, Italy, Poland, and Sweden etc. Retrospectives of directors and actors have included Merchant-Ivory, Ingmar Bergman, Mani Rathnam, Ritwick Ghatak, Mrinal Sen, Mira Nair, Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri among others.

Film Club Members have had interactions andQ & A sessions with Mrinal Sen, Shabana Azmi, Jean Claude Carriere, Rituparno Ghosh & Amitabh Bachchan among others.

The Habitat Film Club holds an annual Film Appreciation Course conducted by a distinguished Faculty. The forthcoming Film Appreciation Course and Programme for November is given below :

Understanding Cinema

The participants will be introduced to the basic concepts of film language and film form and to some of the major movements and masters of world cinema. The course will discuss the different methodologies used to understand issues relating to film form, history, theory and will also use detailed analysis of films to enable viewers to engage critically with film texts.
