Irfan Khan presented his sixth cartoon exhibition titled “Global Warning†at the Experimental Art Gallery from 12-14 August 2008. Irfan has been holding cartoon exhibitions since 1989, each carrying a different essence in a special topic every time. Every time he has tried to raise problems that concern the common man of India. But this time the issue that he has raised is not only a subject of anxiety for a particular society, but bothers the human race as a whole. Art has been one of the most effective means of expressing concerns on various contentious issues and suggesting solutions. Cartoons are one such medium of art that easily reach out to people of all age groups, casts, creeds and gender. Through this cartoon exhibition, Irfan has tried to reach out to people with the state of world that he foresees in a couple of years from now. He has raised problems that will eventually become major issues if we don’t start working in order to save our planet. He has also depicted some solutions between the lines that are suggestions to work in this direction.
