Visual Art Gallery(21 To 25 February 2008)Nirakaar Nirvana Subrata Kundu Visual Arts Gallery 21st – 25th February 2008 A solo exhibitionof the recent works by artist Subrata Kundu was held at the Visual Arts Gallery from the 21st to 25th of February 2008. The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs Shallu Jindal, Kuchipudi Danseuse & Social Activist. A recurrent image of expanding lines and forms, in myriad colors and varied shapes run through the artist’s current suite of 32 mostly large works in rectangular or square format. Subrata has skillfully created vaguely defined formulations in an abstract perspective playing with varied colors in numerous combinations and shades to seek nirvana for his nirakaar art with faint impressions of geometric, structural and Jali patterns and under layers of landscape and nature evoking a meditative stance. With a remarkable spontaneity the artist tried to search nirvana through his nirakaar art or abstraction in its in-exhaustible refinements and newer formulations. Her love for nature and a keen eye for detail, with vivid thoughts, translated into expression in all her paintings. The softness of the watercolors she used is unique and intense, expressing nature in all its glory. A student of literature, Pushpa can literally translate Wordsworth onto the canvas. |
