Satyagrah / Savita Singh. --New Delhi: Ministry of Information
and Broadcasting, 2007 |

A man does not become a
Satyagrahi by styling himself as such. The observance of pure
truth alone makes him a Satyagrahi. The modest endeavour has
been to give a glimpse into Gandhi's Satyagrah in action; to
stimulate one's imagination sufficiently enough to dive deep
into that immeasurable and unfathomable sea, explore it and
pick up priceless pearls, seek one's own truth and live that
truth and live that truth in a non- violent way. |

Chettiar, A. K. New Delhi: Orient Longman, 2007 |

aboard a ship sailing from New York to Dublin, decided to make
a documentary on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Over the next few
years he traveled some 10, 000 miles collecting 50, 000 feet
of film footage, with the expectation and then the outbreak of
the Second World War jeopardizing his research. In 1940, he

(Reference) |
| |
|

|
The globalization of production is reshaping the
international economic landscape. With that, the conventional
wisdom of developed countries as capital and technology
exporters and developing countries as importers is gradually
giving way to a more complex set of relationships. The
geography of international investment flows is changing.
Developing countries are emerging as outward investors, and
their importance as recipients of foreign direct investment in
more knowledge-intensive activities is increasing. This world
investment report focuses on the internationalization of
research and development by transnational corporations and
illustrates some of these changes.

History

The Holocaust of Indian
partition: an inquest / Madhav Godbole. --New Delhi: Rupa,
2006 |
| |
 |
The book surveys the critical
eighteen-month period preceding the transfer of power which
saw widespread communal hatred and violence. The poison of
communalism had seeped so deep that it should have been
evident to anyone that transfer of power was not going to be
peaceful. But, the British and the leaders of the two would be
dominions -India and Pakistan-failed to see this writing on
the wall. The book vividly brings out the holocaust, makes a
clinical and through inquest, and concludes that, with
foresight and planning, its extent and severity could have
been reduced substantially.

Hindu
nationalism and governance / McGuire, John, ed.--New Delhi:
Oxford University Press, 2007
|
| |
 |
This
volume-in the prestigious Themes in politics series -describes
the role of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the governance of
India and dwells on its future as India's main opposition
party. The essays demonstrate how the BJP repackaged core
elements of its ideology to establish a stable coalition
government. They show how, in order to meet the multiple
demands of coalition politics, the BJP built regional
alliances; transformed its economic policy from one that was
informed by the idea of Swadeshi to one that welcomed foreign
capital; established Hindutva as the dominant cultural
discourse in revisioned histories, cinema, and arts while
simultaneously allaying the concerns of the regional parties;
promoted a hegemonic Hindu discourse through the media. |
