ART...SPACE

As an initiative of the India Habitat Centre to bring art out of the walls of a gallery into public spaces, architect and muralist Rahul Backliwal has created a series of backlit glass installations that are on view in the plaza (atrium) of the Centre.

"urban art... is art in an urban space. Art that gets influenced by the space and then influences the space to become a part of the habitat."

Starting 1st Nov. 2001, architect and muralist Rahul Backliwal will, over a period of four months create a series of backlit glass installations to aesthetically tie up the various outdoor spaces at the idia habitat centre (atrium) and transform the plaza into a giant outdoor canvas.

Besides lending a visual identity to the space in the day, the exhibits will transform into glowing backlit forms at night - completely changing the visual impact of the installation.

Rahul Backliwal & Visual Arts Gallery present an urban art project at the INdia Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
