Xerox PARC and DMO presents: The Crossing: Living, Dying and Transformation in Banaras.

A multimedia experience- showcasing state of the art interaction design applied to India's city of knowledge.
Eminent scholars will present talks on themes related to Banaras.
Dance, Music and Video presentations will be part of the out reach programme.

 
         
  4th - 6th December

Baba Dewan presents '24K', an exhibition of oil paintings on canvas, wood, stone and metal.  
         
 
7th - 9th December

Gallery art motif presents a group show of eminent artists.
 
         
  10th - 18th December

Naresh Kapuria puts up a mega show on space and sound installation. The exhibition will include sculptures, paintings and a spectacular laser show.  
         
  19th - 30th December

Italian textiles of the 19th Century belonging to the Arte Sati Rana Trust of Italy will be on show at the Gallery.  
         
     
  OPEN PALM COURT AREA  
     
  As part of our outreach programme the Visual Arts Gallery of the India Habitat Centre has extended it's exhibition space to the Open Plam Court and developing it as a venue for showcasing design, decorative arts, handicrafts, lifestyle and trens.

  HABITAT AWARD  
         
         
      The India Habitat Centre announces the award for the best art show 2001 in the Visual Arts Gallery. The award will be announced in February 2002. The jury will base the award on Creativity, Innovation, Display and New Material.  
         
     
  ART APPRECIATION COURSE  
     
         
   
 
The Visual Arts Gallery and the Mantram Art Foundation initiates a six week Art Appreciation course, spanning different Genres & Mediums. Limited 30 seats. Twice a week. Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-7:30 pm.

We continue with the sketching classes every Saturday (3 pm-5pm) & Sunday (11 am-1pm) for age group 10-17 & 18 years onwards.

      As an initiative of the India Habitat Centre to bring art out of the walls of a gallery into public spaces, architect and muralist Rahul Backliwal has created a series of backlit glass installations that are on view in the plaza (atrium) of the Centre.  
         
         
  LINE 'n' FORM  
         
         
     

A sketching workshop which encapsulates the essentials of drawing, starts 15th Jan 2002.

Six weeks course for 10-17 years age group, fee Rs. 1000/-
Ten weeks course for 18 years and above, fee Rs. 1500/-

Class will be conducted on Saturday (3pm-5pm) and Sunday (11am-1pm).
