The Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods in painting, architecture and music.

Samrang in collaboration with the Visual Arts Gallery presents a three-evening audio-visual presentation by Parag Trivedi.

An unusual presentation, it relates the visual and auditory output from 1600 to 1900; this three-part introduction will show how the painting, sculpture and architecture of the Baroque (1600-1750) period was the visual counterpart of the music of the same period. The paintings of Rembrandt, Vermeer and the architecture of Bernini and Pergolesi will be related to the music of Bach and Handel. Similarly the music of Mozart in the classical period (1750-1825) will be related to the canvases of Goya. Finally the passion of Manet, Monet, Renoir and Degas will be related to the compositions of Brahms, Dvojak and Tchaikovsky of the Romantic Period (1825-1900). The audio-visual presentation will include slides, video-films, recorded music and blackboard explanations. Fee: Rs.600/-. Maximum seats 40. contact: paragtrivedi@yahoo.com
