Ministry of External Affairs presents a photo-exhibition titled “India and Bhutan – Along the Friendship Trail”. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Minister of State for External Affairs Rao Inderjit Singh in the presence of HRH Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Crown Prince of Bhutan. The photo exhibition will be followed by release of a coffee table book “India and Bhutan – Along the Friendship Trail”.

Apparao Galleries presents a retrospective of Sakti Burman, an artist who is often called ‘an alchemist of dreams’, because of his themes coupled with his master strokes that glorify womanhood.

Ajay Choudhary showcases his abstract paintings, mostly oil and acrylic on canvas at the Open Palm Court gallery. On display will be 30-40 canvases, of non-figurative works created by the artist over the last two years.  
         
  10th-14th December

“Reflections on Reality” -- Jasutara Art Foundation presents a show of Kastamandap group of artists from Nepal. The exhibition will showcase paintings done by seven young dedicated Nepali artists who have made a fitting tribute to colours and forms, revealing expressions, excellence and spontaneity.

Shubra Das, alumni of the College of Art, Delhi, presents abstract works of art at the Open Palm Court Gallery. Inspired by design and nature, Shubra says she is able to create abstract images, with a new naturalism, naturalism of her soul.

Bikers for Integration & Conservation of Environment present a photography exhibition of their expeditions to inaccessible areas in an endeavor to understand the social environmental and cultural richness of India’s remote regions.

  Pictures for Life
December 5 – 11, 2005

India Habitat Centre and Plan India organized a photo-exhibition at the Plaza Steps. The exhibition highlights the Plan India’s ‘Pictures for Life’ project that aims to build ‘social equity audit’ capacities in children, to help the development of models of community governance to make relief/ reconstruction expenditure work for communities recovering from the Tsunami event of 2004.

National Foundation for India in collaboration with India Habitat Centre is organizing a photo exhibition of NFI’s media fellows Ruhani Kaur and Sucheta Das from December 13, 2005 onwards. The eight-day show will be inaugurated by renowned photographer, Raghu Rai. While Ruhani Kaur’s titled “India’s Invisible Women”, highlights the lopsided sex ratio, Sucheta Das’, “A Daily Dose of Death”, documents how arsenic contaminated water is affecting the lives of lakhs of people in West Bengal.

Plaza Steps will bedazzle the viewers with the colour and composition of landscapes by Dutch artist Theo Koster. His works reflect surface division, reminiscent of the old-Dutch landscape painters, vast skies over land or water, with a low horizon. However, he has developed a highly individual language of imagery, which he both uses and extends to this day.

Art Workshop - Artist Manil Gupta is conducting three-month long sketching workshop at the Palm Court Conference Room starting December 4, 2005.

The workshop will deal with subjects like basic handling of the medium, improving observation through contours, blind contours and cross contour drawing; perspective and foreshortening in drawing, still life studies, basic color theory along with outdoor trips to study architectural monuments, foliage, etc.

Classes are open to all art lovers 18 years and above. Fee: Rs.3000. Timings: 11 am – 2 pm on Sundays.

‘Paint Your Canvas’ - Join us for a unique creative experience in oil painting with artist Kavita Jaiswal. She will be taking oil painting classes starting 2nd December, 2005 to 4th February, 2006.

Saturday- 2pm to 4pm

Classes open to IHC members only.
The first 10 classes will be conducted free of cost.
