Retrospective of Sanat Kar is being organised by Gallerie Nvya in collaboration with Art India Gallery, New York, and Akar Prakar Gallery, Kolkata. Born in 1935 at Kolkata, Kar has been a painter, print-maker and lately a sculptor. Former principal of Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharti University, Santiniketan, Prof. Kar has held many exhibitions in India and abroad. | ||

‘A Master of Atmospherics’: Gallerie Ganesha presents an exhibition of paintings by Late Satish Chandra, a landscape artist par excellence. A book on Satish Chandra will also be released at the opening. | ||
| 11th – 17th August 2006 | - | Anant Art Gallery presents 'Art Glass Sambandh', an exhibition that combines the rich cultural heritage of India with the long tradition and know how of Sweden in the field of art glass. It is the result of efforts made by a group of well-known glass artists from Sweden and India who joined hands in 2003 to work on the India-Sweden Art Glass Sambandh project, exploring the differences and similarities in art glass between the two countries. After a successful opening in Sweden last year, the exhibition will be shown for the first time in India at the Visual Arts Gallery. | ||
| 18th – 19th August 2006 | - | 'In America' - an exhibition brings together three series of works by Aditya Dhawan, a California based architect/ photographer. First series 'Streets of San Francisco' is a compilation of everyday moments captured in film, second, 'Little India' is an exploration of one culture trying to find its place in another, and the third – 'Taxiwallah: An Immigrant Story' explores the lives of South Asian migrants working as taxi drivers in the city of Berkeley. | ||
| 20th – 24th August 2006 | - | ‘Multiplicity and the Self’ is an exhibition with a difference — a multi-media experience of works by a talented group of young artists — brought alive by the Moon River Gallery and is being curated by noted art curator Dr. Alka Pande. The exhibition will showcase the growing maturity of the participating artists – Aditya Pande, Tarun Jung Rawat, Ayesha Kapur, Kriti Arora, Mekhala Bahl, Remen Chopra, Rohini Devasher, Simrin Mehra, Siya Singh, Sonia Mehra Chawla, and Vishal Dar. | ||
| 25th – 30th August 2006 | - | 'Encounters': India Habitat Centre in collaboration with Art Alive presents Encounters, a solo show of paintings and installation works by artist Veer Munshi. Encounters is a visual representation dealing with the whole politics of the Kashmir identity. The show will end on the 30th with a roundtable discussion on the issues of division, partition and migration. | ||

She's taken the title of her show from the Gauguin's famous painting "Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? The title itself is enough to give a picture of the show. But in concern to Vibha's work where she symbolically representing the contemporary world. One can see loneliness of a human, sorrow in eyes, self-explaining questions and a mysterious representation in her work. | ||

As part of its program of disseminating art & aesthetics, and bringing civil society together through art, India Habitat Centre organises ‘DRSTI: Experiencing Knowledge, Visually’ - An international seminar. While shruti or the oral word, is the supreme source of knowledge, drsti or what is seen has its own unique place in the apprehension, experience and realisation of ultimate reality or atmajnana in the Indian tradition. The seminar will explore various aspects of drsti in the Indian tradition, both traditional and modern.
